Møntergården offers a wealth of exciting experiences. You will learn much more about the history of Odense and Funen.

At a series of thought-provoking exhibitions, stories of historical events, artefacts and personalities enthral every visitor. Here we tell the stories of the people of Odense and Funen, and how they lived – from the oldest Dane to King Canute and poor Ane Kathrine.

Throughout the year, the atmospheric courtyards and buildings form the backdrop for many different activities, all designed to give you a new perspective on the present.

Exhibitions

Funen – Centre of the Universe

Funen – Centre of the Universe is a lavish and meticulously designed exhibition that offers you a thought-provoking insight into the island of Funen and its inhabitants. Here you find hundreds of unique historical artefacts and interactive experiences.

Life in the City

Life in the City is a journey back in time that shows you Odense in the Viking era, middle ages and Renaissance. There are interesting finds from the earliest days of the city and an original nobleman’s home from 1546.

The Children’s Backyard

Joiner Severinsen’s workshop, living quarters and backyard date from 1890. Children can play their way back in time here. Children may touch everything – from the water pump and tools to clothing and even the tea set.

Throughout the large museum district, there are many many experiences and corners to explore for children and grownups alike – all of which will broaden your knowledge of Odense and Funen.

The Funen Village

In the 19th century, most Danes lived in half-timbered farmhouses in rural villages. They lived off the land. The farm and the rural village were the setting for the lives of people who were self-sufficient. Families worked together.

Discover the living history of Funen. The Funen Village is an authentic open-air experience where the past meets the present at an exhibition that tickles all your senses.
